The virus settings allow the administrator to define who is notified when a virus is detected on email.
Organisation selection and ownership
The organisation can be selected, for those administrator who manage multiple organisations, using the drop down list shown above.
The message below this informs you of who currently has ownership of the setting. Regardless of current ownership you will be able to change this and take ownership.
Incoming Virus Settings
Incoming messages that contain viruses will be destroyed. Because nothing is delivered to the intended recipient it is the default to send a notification. This can be disabled if you wish.
In addition you can configure other users to receive notifications on behalf of the entire organisation, such as your IT administrator. Use a comma to add multiple administrator recipients.
We recommend that the intended recipient receives a notification of the email being destroyed so that they can choose whether they wish to contact the sender. If the virus was a macro trojan inside a spreadsheet that the recipient was waiting for they will still wish to follow this up with the sender.
Outgoing Virus Settings
With outgoing emails that are detected with a virus a notification will be sent to the sender that they email and virus have been destroyed. This is the default configuration and can be modified. You may also wish to add an administrator to receive this notification so that they are aware one of their users has a virus.
