Auto Forward for Exchange 2010

When an autoforward rule is required to redirect email to an external email address we recommend the following configuration on the mailbox.

In this example we have an internal domain called DemoLab.co.uk  This has a Mailbox with the User ID YoYo.  Whenever an somone sends an email to this account we wish the email to be forwarded to an Outlook.com address.

Before you start the configuration please ensure that you have the mailbox configured and enabled as well as the external recipient configured as a contact in Exchange.

Open the Mailbox you wish to forward

Open the Mailbox you wish to forward

In the Exchange console, navigate go Recipient Configuration - Mailbox. Locate the user you wish to apply the auto forward to and open the record.

Once you have selected your external contact to forward the email to, you can chose whether you wish to keep a local copy of the email.  This can be controlled with the 'Deliver message to both forwarding address and mailbox' option.

If checked, this will leave a copy in the local mailbox as well as forwarding.

If unchecked you will not keep a copy in the local mailbox.

Once configured, click OK to continue.

Apply and OK to save the new configuration.  The forwarding rule is now active.  By configuring it here the return path is updated in the forwarded email allowing it to be processed by Mailsphere.
